Is CCLA income qualified?
Yes, your household (including your spouse if still married), must make less than 250% of the federal poverty level to qualify for a free consultation with our legal aid attorneys.
If I qualify will you take on representation in my case?
Representation is not guaranteed. Rather after the consultation, CCLA staff will determine if your matter is a good fit for one of our volunteer attorneys.
Can you talk to me if I am currently represented by an attorney?
No, we cannot talk to you if you are already represented by counsel.
Do you consult on any other types of cases not listed on your website?
While we would like to be able to assist on a variety of legal issues, since our attorneys are volunteer, we are limited to those practice areas listed on our website at this time.
Can I bring a friend or my children to my appointment?
While you may bring them to the appointment, neither friends nor children are allowed to meet with the attorney. You may bring an interpreter if you need someone to interpret for you.
What do I need to bring to the appointment?
Please bring all documents and any pleadings you may have to your appointment to get the most out of the appointment with the attorney.
How long will my appointment take?
You can meet with an attorney up to an hour.
Do you offer interpreters if I don’t understand English well?
If you notify CCLA In advance of the appointment that you do not speak English and if you are primary language is Spanish, we will try and have an interpreter present at the clinic but we cannot guarantee that.
